LinkWater's vision is to be a leader in the planning, development and transport of bulk water and related services.

- The Queensland Bulk Water Transport Authority, trading as LinkWater, is responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of bulk water pipelines and related infrastructure throughout South East Queensland (SEQ).
- As part of the water reform, the Queensland Bulk Water Transport Authority, trading as LinkWater, was formed in November 2007 to own and operate bulk water transport assets in SEQ under the South East Queensland Water (Restructuring) Act 2007.
- All State-owned water entities now operate under new pricing policies and market rules set by the Queensland Water Commission. From 1 July 2008, LinkWater assumed control of 350km of bulk water mains, 23 water reservoirs and 14 pump stations worth a total of almost $500 million from SEQ councils.
- On 1 July 2008, LinkWater became a fully operational State Government-owned water entity committed to enhancing SEQ's water supply and security.
- By early 2009, LinkWater operated and maintained an additional 150km of bulk water pipelines worth $1.3 billion. The completed projects give LinkWater an asset base of almost $1.8 billion and 500km of bulk water pipelines.

- Once a pipeline has been constructed and commissioned by LinkWater Projects, LinkWater assumes the ownership and responsibility for moving bulk water to areas where it is needed most.
