Information Privacy

LinkWater is committed to protecting user privacy. LinkWater understands and appreciates that visitors and users of this website are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided to LinkWater.

The Queensland Government has established a privacy regime for the Queensland public sector based on 11 Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). These are contained in the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) which LinkWater is required to adhere to.

LinkWater does not store personal information in cookies. Cookies utilised by LinkWater's website are strictly limited to providing the visitor with the ability to customise the site for return visits or to allow the visitor to carry information across different pages. Cookies are not used to track or identify visitors for any other purpose. If you have configured your browser to reject all cookies, you will still be able to view this site; however, there may be a loss of some functionality. LinkWater's web servers make a record of the visit of any user and log the following information for statistical purposes only:

  • IP address that the request comes from
  • date and time of visit to the site
  • pages accessed and documents downloaded
  • previous site visited but only if a link was followed to LinkWater's website
  • type of browser used.

No attempt is or will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except in the unlikely event of an investigation where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.

As LinkWater is a statutory authority of the Queensland Government, email correspondence sent to this site will be treated as a public record and will be retained as required by the Public Records Act 2002 and other relevant regulations.

Your name and address details will not be added to a mailing list and LinkWater will not disclose these details to third parties without your consent unless required by law. However, email messages may be monitored by authorised IT staff for purposes such as system troubleshooting and maintenance. 

Members of the public can apply to access and amend their own personal information under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).

Applications under the IP Act must be made in the approved form.

Alternatively, a request to update personal information, such as change of address, should be directed to the Privacy Officer. The Privacy Officer is the appropriate point of contact if there are issues concerning access to or amendment of personal information and to the IPPs contained in the IP Act. The Privacy Officer can advise on access to personal information and legislative requirements governing access.
